The degradation curve is the real story
Headline efficiency gets attention — our Titan series reaches 23.2% — but the number that moves project IRR is degradation. TOPCon’s first-year loss of ≤1.0% and annual loss of ≤0.4% mean a module still produces roughly 87% of nameplate in year 30, where a PERC module has typically fallen below 84% by year 25.
Temperature behavior compounds the gap
At −0.29%/°C, an N-type module gives up noticeably less energy on hot sites than PERC at −0.34%/°C. Across a 480 MW desert installation, that difference alone is worth several gigawatt-hours per year.
What buyers should do
Rerun your energy model with real TOPCon coefficients rather than legacy defaults, and ask every supplier for third-party LeTID and PID test data. If a quote looks cheap, check which cell platform is hiding behind the price.
